Pokemon Storage
Hey Tuxemaniacs! I'm busy with release blockers to get version .4 out the door, and the next big one is "monster storage". A long time ago [in a galaxy far far away] we had a simple working system, and yes, I broke it. Anyway, like a Moltres, erm, "Pheonix", the feature will rise from the ashes.... So, I need some direction.
If you've some any ideas on how you'd like to see this implemented, please refer to the excellent Bulbapedia page and report back! I'm soliciting opinions because I want to do it right....
Anyway, please have a look at the Bulbapedia page and fill this thread with ideas. I hope to get this done soon!

Thanks everyone!

Champion · 550 commentsOkay, how about this:
* When a tuxemon is captured and you already have six in your team, it is immediately transferred to storage.
* Storage is made up of boxes - initially one, but any number are added automatically as you fill up existing boxes. You can also add one or more manually while at a terminal.
* Boxes are numbered in order of creation, but you can also give them nicknames and sort by nickname instead.
* Creatures are fully healed whenever they are put into storage.
* There are terminals to access the storage at each Bazaar, or you can pay for the service at shops and Pillars. There may also be consumable items that allow you to access the storage remotely.
* You can move creatures between boxes, either one-by-one or in groups.
* As well as going through box by box, there is a simple search/sort function to display by Type, by Name, by stage of metamorphosis, by Level, etc.
* Perhaps you can also set the wallpaper for each box.
* Perhaps in the future there could also be an option to "publish this box", which displays the box's contents and the trainer's name somewhere online

Champion · 167 commentsGreat ideas, Lori. I'm merely mortal, so I'll counter propose something I think is realistic for me to do in the next couple weeks. I really like all your points, but I need to start small...then add features later.
- Move creatures at the PC in your home
- Storage is unlimited
- Only one box (feature for more later)
If you could chose the interface, would it be:
- List of monster names
- Grid of monster sprites or face sprites

Champion · 550 commentsMakes sense
What about list of monster names with the face sprite showing to the left? That would make it easier to pick out nicknamed creatures.

By bitcraft 28 Aug 2016 13:12
Champion · 167 commentsThat seems reasonable. Good use of the face sprites. Should it be similar to the way they are rendered in the monsters screen of the game?

Champion · 550 commentsThat looks good!

Member · 38 commentsI think that no boxes are needed when they are in a list, maybe a possibilty to sort them would be better (type, place of capture,level...)

Member · 13 commentsI like benneti's idea. I support it, though, that would put more strain on the developers.

Champion · 167 commentsFor the .4 release, I think I will do the rendered box, with a face sprite, level, and HP (similar to the graphic I posted). In the future, if we are going to support many monsters, 100's even, then I think a grid would be more appropriate.
Filters, sorting, etc can all come later, but will be needed.

Champion · 167 commentsThoughts?
For The tuxepedia, selecting a tuxemon will open a detailed info screen. For storage, they will move from this list into storage.

Champion · 550 commentsLooks good! Although I think being added to storage will heal a tuxemon, so there's no need to show its current HP.

Champion · 167 commentsyeah thats a good point. is there a stat or two (or more) that would be useful to display as a number or a bar?

IMO:
Tuxemon + Gender + Level
Also: The information should be together at one spot
the bar and the name is seperated in your example.. it might not be much, but because the name of the tuxemon below is closer to the hp bar of the tuxemon above, you could mix up the information

Champion · 167 commentsA few changes. The HP bar is still just a stand in. Could be used for something else... experience? Still can be scrapped.
Still need font or images for the gender markers.
Another variation with the names position changed

Champion · 295 commentsI like the name above the Tuxemon, and I think the bar representing xp is a good idea. Im not sure where the level number should be - it looks good now, Im just picky Anyways, great work - you're killing this and making it look pro!

Champion · 261 commentsMaybe something like this would look nice?

By josepharaoh99 12 Sep 2016 18:20
Champion · 295 commentsWow, cool, tamashihoshi! As a matter of fact, your drawing gave me an idea...
Oh, wait, duh I should of thought of this! Since the bar could represent xp, why shouldnt the current level be inside the bar (in the middle), unless the text would be too small to fit? Either that, or what tamashihoshi drew.
Also, I don't know if someone already said something about it and I didn't notice, but will you be able to customize the storage interface background?

Champion · 167 commentsThe bars value is still HP, but will represent XP?

Champion · 91 commentsThat looks great
Will the name be the nickname of the Tuxemon when that is implemented?

By bitcraft 14 Sep 2016 16:04
Champion · 167 commentsIt is already displaying the nickname, but there isn't a way to change it yet (except by editing a save file).

Champion · 167 commentsHere's a peek at animating a whole big list of tuxemon using random names. The sprite for dune pincher doesn't follow the rest so it is not displayed correctly.
