Hey, guys! I thought I'd make a post for any new contributions to the npc art. Here are some of my ideas:If any of these sprites are good enough, let me know, and I can make a pull request. Also, are contributions accepted for the sprite layering system (SLS) yet?

I think these NPC sprites could still be improved, but they're a great start! Go ahead and open a pull request and I'll accept these sprites into the development version of Tuxemon!
As far as the sprite layering, contributions will be accepted if you have them in that format. Otherwise we can always convert existing sprites into their individual parts to be used with that system.
I found this link for a bunch of NPC art under the Creative Commons or Public Domain license. Do you think they could be used in the game? I know I'm not ShadowApex, but my feeling is that we should use absolutely any open source assets that we can! No point duplicating work that others have done for us. My only concern with those sprites is it's not always clear which Creative Commons licence they're under.
Also perhaps useful are the hundreds of public domain assets in the Superpowers packs: https://github.com/sparklinlabs/superpowers-asset-packs
There's definitely some Superpowers item sprites that we could make use of. There are some people whose sprites are the right size to make trainers, but unfortunately I think they're the wrong style.
I agree completely. If there's other creative commons assets that people have made that fit well into Tuxemon, we should definitely use them, if only at minimum to use as placeholders for changes or new artwork in the future. Some artwork may even fit so nicely that it needs little to no extra modification.
Using other creative commons artwork might even attract the original artist to the project and help contribute further. Kelvin was one such artist who discovered Tuxemon through use of his Kyrodian Legends Overworld tileset in the project.

Found these http://young-dante.deviantart.com/art/V … 984420#-we need more girl sprites in this game. Based on what I can tell, we can use these in the game. This stuff isn't really under any set licenses, and the maker lets people use it in games. He just seems to want to know how it's used.
But the sprites are not a good size...
if young-dante agrees we can edit them to have the right size; that shouldnt be a problem at all

These look like they're 16 pixels tall, whereas Tuxemon characters are taller - I think 20 pixels. But if you wanted to adjust them to be taller, I think they'd make a great addition.
